One way we motivate our teenage students to think about their future: Future Pacing.
They project themselves forward to age 25, 40 & 80 and fully inhabit that future time point. Our goals are to:
1. decide how they'd like the future to look like
2. understand how they'll feel if things turn out differently than they hoped
Part of becoming a balanced person is having a well-calibrated sense of your future regret. Our duty to our students is to help them minimize the number of regrets they have later in life.
